Let's Celebrate National Hydropower Day! 🌄🌊 In honor of National Hydropower Day, we’re sharing the success story of the Townshend and Ball Mountain Hydroelectric Projects on the West River in Vermont. Our study focused on the biological performance of downstream passage facilities, ensuring safe and efficient fish migration. 🐟 Using advanced radio telemetry and mark recapture techniques, we confirmed an acceptable level of bypass efficiency with 100% bypass survival. This means fish can safely navigate through their fish passage systems, maintaining the river’s ecological balance. Due to the similarities at both project sites, our study results from Townshend were applicable to the performance of the bypass system at Ball Mountain, preventing the need for conducting studies at both sites! Ultimately, our efforts helped our client gain acceptance from resource agencies and FERC, eliminating the need for further testing or modifications to improve downstream passage. This saved our client time and budget and provided a big win for sustainable energy and environmental stewardship. CCR Legacy Rule is active…are you ready? The new “Legacy Rule” expands coal combustion residual (CCR) regulations, affecting inactive surface impoundments and areas where CCR was managed outside regulated units. Despite hopes for a court stay or repeal, compliance timelines are now active. Stakeholders, such as those who acquired former coal-fired energy sites or own sites with off-site CCR placement, must complete an Applicability Report by November 4, 2024, or a Facility Evaluation Report by February 9, 2026. Today is National CAD Day! 🎨🖥️ We’re celebrating our incredible CAD professionals at Verdantas. Computer-Aided Design (CAD) has come a long way since its inception in the 1960s. In its infancy, it emerged as a revolutionary tool for engineers, architects, and designers. Over time, CAD evolved from producing basic 2D drawings on mainframe computers, to incorporating 3D modeling, parametric design, and collaborative features. Today, CAD software empowers professionals across various industries, from architecture and manufacturing to engineering, construction, and digital technology. It streamlines the design process, enhances precision, and accelerates innovation—all elements that are crucial to our success here at Verdantas. CAD’s impact continues to grow, making it a true game-changer in our industry. This October, Verdantas is sending 8 members from our CAD team to attend AutoDesk University. This three-day conference is an immersive journey of learning, networking, and innovation.
