Here's a year-end fundraising tip for you!💡 Start by looking at your portfolio to identify the donors you need to connect with. These will be the donors who haven't made their gift yet, or who have given less this year than in previous years. Make a list, then make a check-in phone call to these donors, just to see how they're doing and to thank them for their support of your organization. When you do this, you're making your donor feel valued and like you genuinely appreciate them, not just their money. You're also putting your organization top of mind for them as they begin to plan their year-end donations. Is your "judger" in control? It's a normal human experience to feel triggered sometimes and get into a mindset of feeling like you're being judged. When that happens, your "judger" shows up and puts you on the defensive. Maybe your boss says something about your work or a friend brings up something about your behavior. When these moments occur, we're faced with a choice. We can allow our judger to guide our reactions, which usually leads to us being defensive and possibly creating conflict, or we can choose to see things from the vantage point of a learner. When you choose to take the learner perspective instead, you open up the possibility to explore the other person's way of thinking, the reality you might be missing, and the potential to create connection and respect. When you feel like you're being triggered and your judger is getting activated, remember: Notice. Pause. Choose. It can almost feel like you're in the matrix! The more you focus on the money, the harder it becomes to increase your revenue. 😱 It's like you're pushing away that which you most want to attract.
