🔹Welcome back to our Victors of V6 series, featuring our Co-Founder, LTG Gene Blackwell - the original "Victory Six"! 🔹 A decorated Army veteran, Gene's journey in defense industry leadership is a testament to adaptability, service, and entrepreneurial spirit. His path to Victory Six began with two pivotal moments: joining ROTC at Clemson University, then a subsequent deployment to Vietnam. "Despite all the horror and challenges associated with service in combat, I knew I needed to stay on that path." LTG Blackwell commanded at every level from platoon to division and culminated his service as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans (now G3) of the US Army. He served in every type of US Army division, including light infantry, airborne infantry, motorized infantry, mechanized infantry and armor. He is a highly decorated combat veteran with numerous awards including Silver Stars, eight Bronze Stars and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. He proudly served two tours in Vietnam and was a key commander in the 1991 liberation of Kuwait with the 3rd Armored Division. After his retirement in 1996, Gene decided to switch into industry. "I was lucky enough to go to Willie, called Hughes Aircraft, for a time. Then we got bought by Raytheon, and I was a vice president there." Gene rose into other VP positions at Raytheon, eventually leaving to open his own consultancy. "I wanted to branch out on my own," he said. "And I met during that time a gentleman by the name of Andrew Clausnitzer, and an associate of his named Martin Rahmani." Gene recognized their potential immediately. "Every now and again, you meet people you know are going to be successful. That's how I felt about Martin and Andrew. Whatever challenge we decided to undertake, they had the willingness to work hard, learn, and contribute to any endeavor." This was the beginning of Victory Six Advisors in 2017. "Victory Six was my call sign when I commanded the 24th Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia," Gene explains. "One of my brigade commanders was fond of it. Every time he would see me or call me he'd say, 'Hello, Victory Six.' When it came time to name the company, it just made sense." When it comes to the future of Victory Six in the Defense space, Gene had the following to say: "Victory Six will continue to build on their fundamental success to date: leveraging experts who provide real, actionable guidance. We have a group of people that help clients move forward in their intended area. And we do so by aligning with their strategic goals and their direction. "People want the assistance of Victory Six," he continued.
