Our Monroeville Donation Center in Pennsylvania just got a major upgrade! We've revitalized the space to make it more comfortable and welcoming for every donor and team member. This transformation isn't just about new facilities—it's a testament to how much we value the lifesaving contributions of our donors. Whether it's someone's first visit or they’re a dedicated donor, this space was thoughtfully designed to enhance the experience for everyone.   A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone and to all those who continue to support patients in need of blood transfusions. 🌟 For more than 50 years, Liz has been a dedicated blood drive coordinator. Every other month, she passionately ensures the community comes together to donate blood, from city halls to churches. “My husband used to get upset with me because I would plan vacations around the blood drive," shared Liz. "He came first, don’t get me wrong, but the blood drive was up there, because it is important. I don’t consider myself special. This is something I believe in. 🌈 Vitalant team members nationwide celebrated Pride Month by raising awareness about the new FDA guidance expanding blood donor eligibility for the LGBTQ+ community. Now, all potential donors, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, are asked the same questions and assessed on an individual basis while maintaining the safety of the blood supply. ⚠️ TYPE O BLOOD EMERGENCY ⚠️ Calling eligible blood donors of all blood types: patients need your help! After a 30% overall donation shortfall during the Fourth of July holiday week and overall low donor turnout this summer, the supply of type O recently dropped to an 18-month low. Accidents, emergencies, treatments for cancer and other chronic diseases can’t take a holiday break. Donors of all blood types, especially type O, are needed in the coming days and weeks to help end the type O #BloodEmergency and ensure patients have what they need when they need it. #GiveBlood: vitalant.org
