About us

Warrior Canine Connection (WCC) is a pioneering organization that utilizes its Mission Based Trauma Recovery (MBTR) model to support recovering combat Veterans and their families. WCC provides Warriors a regained sense of purpose through the opportunity to engage in a critical military support mission while simultaneously receiving treatment for their own symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). Based on the time-honored tradition of Warriors helping Warriors, their mission is to train highly-skilled service dogs that provide years of mobility and social support to Veterans with disabilities.

  • Please join us in welcoming WCC’s Ski Named in honor of United States Navy Commander Ann Przybylski-Williams. CDR Williams joined the Army in 1983 and began as a combat medic serving at Ft. Lewis, WA providing medical support to the 9th Infantry Division. She was accepted for flight medical training at Ft. Rucker, and then went on to Ft. Belvoir as a flight medic for the rest of her enlistment. She earned the Expert Field Medical Badge and Flight Crewmember Badge. The Army is where she earned her nickname, "Ski" because what does every soldier with a difficult Polish last name get called? CDR Williams completed a degree in Health Education and knew the medical field was what she wanted to pursue. She was accepted to the Baccalaureate Degree Completion program in the Navy and completed her nursing degree. CDR Williams served first as a medical surgical nurse at the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton, CA on the Marine Corps Base. After one year, she was accepted for perioperative nurse training. Her second duty station was the Naval Hospital in Guam, where she got a taste of the island life while providing medical care to the military and the community. CDR Williams was then accepted for a duty under instruction program to complete her master's degree in nursing and graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. At the start of 2002, CDR Williams started her tour at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda MD with a deployment on the USNS Comfort as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and providing care to patients in the operating room on the ship. After her return to Bethesda she led the orthopedic service. Bethesda was the first stop for most of the combat injured servicemembers after leaving Landstuhl, Germany. CDR Williams went on to be the Department Head of the operating room in Naples, Italy, followed by another return to Bethesda, where she supported the merger of Walter Reed and the renovation of the operating rooms at the hospital. CDR Williams transferred to the Naval Hospital in Twentynine Palms, California, and was honored again to take care of Marines as the Department Head of the operating room. Her final duty station was back to Walter Reed where she developed and managed a surgical quality department in support of all surgical services. Working under their Surgical Champion, her department won several awards for their work in ensuring quality care for the hospital and the DoD. It is with tremendous pride that we name WCC’s Ski in honor of United States Navy Commander Ann Williams #FurTheLoveOfVeterans #WCCsSki

WCC was proud to be a part of this fantastic event in June, which helped to raise more than $160,000 for WCC’s work with wounded Veterans. To our friends at NPS Foundation and our amazing tournament sponsor, Tom Callinan, we salute you and extend our heartfelt gratitude for your long-time partnership in WCC’s No Fail Mission! #FurTheLoveOfVeterans #ThankfulThursday

  • Please join us in welcoming WCC’s Ellen Named in honor of United States Army Air Corps Private Ellen Paige  Helen Lorraine "Ellen" Kinnear Paige served in both the United States Navy and the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.    First joining the US Navy, PVT Paige was a member of the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) and underwent training at the U.S. Naval Training Center in Bronx, NY. She was discharged to care for a sick family member.    In 1944, PVT Paige felt compelled to serve again, and she joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving as a Private at Hunter Field, GA. While stationed in Georgia, she met and married her husband, Cpl. John A. Paige. In 1945, she was honorably discharged and moved to New York, where her husband was from.    Afterwards, PVT Paige worked a variety of jobs while raising her six children. Later in life, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland. She ultimately retired from working for the State of Maryland, and spent her retirement being a devoted grandmother.    Having grown up during the depths of the Great Depression, PVT Paige’s childhood was spent traveling across the United States as her family sought work and stability. Joining the military gave her a foundation on which to build a stable life for herself and her future family. She always spoke fondly of her time in both the Navy and the Army Air Corps. She particularly loved reminiscing about being able to hitch a ride on a plane from the airfield in Georgia to visit family in Texas. It is with tremendous pride that we name WCC’s Ellen in honor of United States Army Air Corps Private Ellen Paige #FurTheLoveOfVeterans #WCCsEllen
