About us
Wasatch Adaptive Sports (WAS) a 501 (c)(3) charitable foundation was established in 1977 to help fill the need for affordable recreational and educational programs for children and adults with special needs. Most programs available today are financially out of reach for many families and individuals. WAS does not turn anyone away, requires no initial fee, and provides full or partial scholarships so all can participate.

🌊What's better than being on the water up in the mountains? 💚💙Wasatch Adaptive Sports welcomed students to Tibble Fork Reservoir yesterday for weekly paddle lessons! WAS offers kayaking and paddleboarding, and thanks to the scholarship program (supported entirely by donors and grants), these experiences are free of charge to all who wish to pursue them. Meet Savannah, Wasatch Adaptive Sports student, cyclist, and mountain biker! New to our programs, read Savannah's Words on WAS blog at https://lnkd.in/gg_qaCbB. "At the hospital, I worked with many great therapists and nurses who recognized my interest in riding. They mentioned that they have a connection with Wasatch Adaptive Sports and have a spot saved every Friday for patients that would be interested in riding bikes with them. I felt butterflies! When my week was hard, I reminded myself that I only had to make it until Friday until I got to go ride again." Thank you for sharing your story with us Savannah! #TogetherInMotion #WordsonWAS

Progression! Meet Wasatch Adaptive Sports student Brent, and join him for his first time riding a bike since his TBI! At WAS, we’re all about progression. What are the student’s personal goals? What adaptations can we empower them with to meet those goals? Brent wanted to ride a two wheel bike. Instructor Catherine worked with him on a progression to make that happen. So many people can remember fondly their first time riding a bike, and there’s something so beautiful about experiencing a “second first time” riding with one of our students. Go Brent! Thank you POC for outfitting our students in brand-new SPIN helmets this year! Wishing the WAS community a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend 💙💚 #TogetherInMotion
