About us

The Washington State Patrol is a premier law enforcement agency made up of dedicated professionals who work hard to improve the quality of life for our citizens and prevent the unnecessary loss of life on a daily basis. Our goal is to make a difference every single day. Found in 1921 by 6 motorcycle troopers, the WSP has grown into the largest public safety law enforcement agency in the state— with the responsibility of patrolling Washington's 17,524 miles of state highways. Today, the Washington State Patrol is made up of 50% commissioned officers and 50% civilian staff, all of who are hard working professionals dedicated to making Washington a safer and better place to live. The women and men of this department work tirelessly to serve the communities of Washington State.
