Provides sustainable access to safe water, improved sanitation and hygiene in the world's most neglected areas.

About us

Since 2004, Water for Good has worked in partnership with the people of one country-– the Central African Republic— to pursue sustainable water services for every man, woman, and child. We recently joined together with Lifewater, sharing the mission of transforming lives through sustainable access to safe water, as well as improved sanitation and hygiene, in places that need it most. Our commitment stems from our Christian faith, and we seek to serve all people of any faith or none. Using a data-driven approach, we currently provide lasting drinking water to nearly a million people by constructing over 1,100 water points, including communal tapstands connected to solar-powered pump systems and handpumps. We provide routine maintenance services to over 2,100 water points and our Radio Water for Good shares broadcasts about WASH education, Christian faith, and peace-building nationwide. The Central African Republic is one of the most fragile countries on earth. To break the cycle of chronic emergency response, we catalyze the district roadmap approach, incubate professionalized operations and maintenance services, and extend our evidence of best practices globally. As we continue to blend our WASH programs with Lifewater, we are thrilled to now be serving those in Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia and Cambodia. We develop and share best practices alongside our partners: One for All, the WASH Agenda for Change, the Uptime consortium, the Accord Network, and the Safe Water Enterprise Community of Practice, as well as local and national partners.

Today is International Day of Charity. Let's remember that the true measure of giving is the love we pour into it. At Water for Good, we ask that you explore your options on what matters to you in the world. For us, providing access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene is vital. Nearly 703 million people are effected by the global water crisis, and creating reliable sources of water around the globe to make healthy homes and thriving communities is what drives us everyday to keep moving forward. To make a gift, visit waterforgood.org/donate. Some background on the holiday: The International Day of Charity was established with the objective of sensitizing and mobilizing people, NGOs, and stakeholders all around the world to to help others through volunteer and philanthropic activities. The date of September 5th was chosen in order to commemorate the anniversary of the passing away of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 "for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitute a threat to peace."

We love seeing faith in action! Wagunyanya, blind and living alone, praised God after the local church built him a latrine and hand washing station, rid his home of lice, washed his clothes, and fitted him with a new shirt. As part of Water for Good's Healthy Church program, all households considered "vulnerable" by Water for Good/Lifewater staff must be registered "Healthy Homes" before the churches in the area can be celebrated as Healthy Churches. Both Redeemed Church and Christ Light Church learned of this and God's mandate to serve their neighbor, and they joyfully set out to help Wagunyanya. With their love and support, Wagunyanya's home is a healthy! To aide in our vision and mission to spread safe water with the power of the gospel behind us, visit waterforgood.org/donate.

Safe water alone can't prevent the spread of common, life-threatening illnesses. Safe water in dirty containers, for example, is dirty water. Sanitation and hygiene are critical to health. That's why Water for Good staff walk alongside community health promoters to share the messages of healthy living with their neighbors and celebrate lasting transformation. When families adopt simple, life-saving healthy habits, they can take charge of their health. To make the gift of safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, visit waterforgood.org/donate

Last August, The JMP, managed by WHO and UNICEF, released updated data on the global water crisis. We saw the number of people affected by the global water crisis go from 771 million people to 703 million people. For perspective, in 2006, that number was at 1.1 billion people affected. The decline in WASH categories is encouraging and exciting, but there is still much work to be done. We can end the global water crisis in our lifetime, but only with your help! Thank you for partnering with us so we can continue to see these numbers shrink! To give, visit waterforgood.org/donate. Feel free to visit https://lnkd.in/eKsipesM to view the summary and download the full report.

Today is World Humanitarian Day! With over 703 million people living without access to safe and clean water, all of us at Water for Good strive to do the best work we can to help put an end to this crisis. That's nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide who are effected by the lack of safe water. With your help, especially on World Humanitarian Day, the gift of $60 can provide safe water, sanitation, and hygiene to one person for a full year. To equate that to price points closer to home, that's equivalent to eating our with your family for one dinner, or half of a phone bill. However, your gift, last longer than one meal or a half-months plan on a bill, rather you're providing the most important source of life to a person for a whole year. To give the gift of water, visit waterforgood.org/donate History on WHD: On August 19, 2003, an attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killed 22 humanitarian aid workers, including the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello. Five years later, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution designating August 19 as World Humanitarian Day (WHD).
