Harbor Splash is an organized jump into the Baltimore Harbor on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Bond Street Wharf in Fells Point. This event is a celebration of the collective effort that's been taken toward creating a swimmable harbor in Baltimore city. As Mayor Brandon Scott put it, “We all own this collectively, owning up to what the harbor was but also saying, this is where we are now and this is where we’re going to go... I know the data, I know the water is safe, and that’s why I’ll be jumping in the harbor." Join Waterfront Partnership and our partners, including Mayor Brandon Scott, when we jump into the harbor this June. "This is a day not to be overlooked because you're talking about a decade and more of work by everyone you saw. I want to thank Laurie, I want to thank Mike, I want to thank Adam, and all the institutions and Non-profits who helped put in the work, as well as all our team members at the Department of Public Works. These people believed this was possible when so many people believed this wasn't possible." ~ Mayor Brandon M. Scott ~~~ Harbor Splash, Baltimore's first swimming event in over 80 years, celebrated the efforts of Waterfront Partnership, City Government, and dozens of other organizations to transform and clean the harbor into a thriving and swimmablem recreational space. Over 150 swimmers took part in the event, symbolizing a significant achievement for the city and offering a glimpse of Baltimore's promising future for our waterways. ~~~ https://lnkd.in/eq_vucyq

https://lnkd.in/duB4BNzv This past Sunday, we were able to accomplish a feat that many thought was impossible, as 150 Baltimoreans enthusiastically jumped into the Baltimore harbor with us. Our first ever Harbor Splash event celebrated over a decade of work cleaning up the harbor; invaluable collaboration between our government, business leaders, non profits, and residents; and above all, passion and dedication to our goal of achieving a swimmable harbor. As our Vice President Adam Lindquist said the morning of the splash, “There is still work to be done, and I don’t expect everyone to change their mind overnight, but today, I urge us all to reconsider our relationship with the Baltimore harbor and acknowledge that things have changed."

Rash Field Park redevelopment is moving ahead- we are so excited for the next phase of the park to come to fruition, bringing more amenities to our community and the waterfront district. Rash Field Park’s most visited day so far this year was Sat May 25th, Memorial Day weekend during the Asia in a Bite Festival celebrating AAPI Month. That visitorship accounted for ~30% of Inner Harbor’s foot traffic for that day despite only being 4% of the land area. With Phase II, we expect these numbers to increase even more. https://lnkd.in/exedhj7i
