Is there is an “ad load crisis” in podcasting? The easy answer is a resounding YES. Podcast ad load has increased 39% between 2021 and 2024 according to new analysis from two of our partners, podcast measurement leader Podscribe and the audio ad agency Oxford Road. Their recent study found many leading podcasts dedicated as much as a quarter of their episode to advertising. The ill effects include higher CPMs and the risk of negating the marketing benefits that separate podcast advertising from all other digital media.
