Team Foster raises money to provide accredited, life-saving service dogs for injured and disabled Veterans.

About us

Team Foster raises money to provide accredited, life-saving service dogs for injured and disabled Veterans. Team Foster: *Funds* highly trained and accredited service dogs for injured and disabled Veterans at no cost to the Veteran and provides lifetime support to its Veteran–service dog teams. Team Foster brings civilians, Veterans and service dogs together to provide the resources that our government does not. *Advocates* for Veterans and their service dogs in the community, workplace, and the legislature. Team Foster works to achieve the best possible training for service dogs and fair treatment of Veterans. *Educates* and raises awareness across the nation about the challenges our Veterans face, the power of service dogs, and the life-saving resource that these properly trained and accredited animals can provide. Founded in 2014, Team Foster has become a community leader working on behalf of injured and disabled veterans. Recognizing that service dogs serve a vital role in the rehabilitation of injured soldiers, especially those with PTSD or Traumatic Brain Injury, Team Foster works to ensure there is No Hero Left Behind. Our funds go to ensure service dogs can be obtained, trained and provided to a Veteran in need at no cost. The teamwork doesn't end there. One service dog can cost upwards of $30,000 and take up to two years to properly train. There is no viable resource through the VA, no federal government or insurance coverage that will cover the cost of a service dog for a Veteran suffering from PTSD. Team Foster fills that need. Join us as we bring our civilian and veteran communities together to ensure there is No Hero Left Behind. Events like Ruff Ride: 24-hour Spin Relay and the Foster 100 provide amazing opportunities for sponsors and attendees alike.

WANNA RAISE SOME SERVICE DOG PUPPIES: Veterans often wait over 2 years for a service dog due to a shortage of puppy raisers. Volunteer puppy raisers are essential to bridging this gap. They provide a loving home, care, and initial training for service pups over 15-18 months, helping them develop into life-changing service dogs. In collaboration with Susquehanna Service Dogs and Warrior Canine Connection, we've launched a puppy-raising program in the Philadelphia area. Interested in becoming a puppy raiser and making a difference? Join us! #ServiceDogs #PuppyRaising #VeteranSupport #TrustThePawces

What is House Bill 2392? House Bill 2392 is a new proposal in Pennsylvania focused on service and assistance animals. It introduces a Trained Service Animal Card for proper documentation, mandates access for registered service animals in public spaces, and sets up a database for tracking them. It also provides legal protections for public accommodation owners. Team Foster supports this important initiative and is committed to helping veterans by providing trained service dogs. For more information on how you can support or get involved, visit our website or contact us directly. Together, we can make a difference! #TeamFoster

Service dogs are extraordinary animals trained to assist individuals with disabilities. They help guide the visually impaired, support mobility by opening doors and retrieving items, and alert to medical conditions like seizures or changes in blood sugar levels. These dogs also recognize anxiety or PTSD triggers, providing emotional support and companionship. By performing daily tasks, they enable their handlers to live more independently. Service dogs are more than just pets; they are highly trained professionals dedicated to supporting their handlers. At Team Foster, we help Veterans get connected to these incredible service dogs, ensuring they receive the support they need. Let's honor and respect their vital work!

Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) provide invaluable comfort and companionship to those who need them. They offer emotional stability and a sense of calm to individuals dealing with mental health challenges, making daily life more manageable. However, it's important to understand that ESAs are different from trained service dogs. While service dogs undergo extensive training to perform specific tasks for people with disabilities, ESAs provide support through their presence and affection. Both ESAs and service dogs play crucial roles in improving lives, but recognizing their differences ensures we support and respect each in the way they are meant to be. #TeamFoster #ServiceDogs #SupportAndRespect
