Leaders from Seattle Children's Hospital and Wellpoint Washington came together to share ideas and best practices for meeting the ever-changing healthcare needs of children and families in our community.

On July 15th, Wellpoint New Jersey associates participated in Speaker Craig Coughlin’s Bowl for Hunger event. Wellpoint was a proud sponsor of this annual event that raised funds to benefit the food banks of Carteret, Perth Amboy, Sayreville, South Amboy, and Woodbridge, NJ. Nutritious food should be for everyone. But healthy food is not always available – or affordable – especially for the millions of American families in low-income neighborhoods, struggling daily to make ends meet. Due to cost and access, fresh fruits and vegetables are a luxury many Americans can’t spare to indulge. At Wellpoint, we understand healthy food's vital role in overall well-being.  We're honored to partner with CARC for their summer series of fresh produce distributions. Every Friday through September, this fresh produce market will provide access to healthy, fresh fruits and vegetables to those without easy access.  In addition, Wellpoint is on hand to assist with NJ FamilyCare applications and renewals.  We will also be hosting cooking demonstrations, health screenings, and more throughout the summer.  We hope to see you there!  For more information call 1877 453-4080. David Escame, Marketing and Community Relations Director for Wellpoint Washington (WLP) was honored to receive a Community Champion Award from Tiny Tots Child Development Center (TTCDC) and an Outstanding Leader Award from Team Redeemed Life Center (TRLC). These awards were accepted on behalf of WLP, recognizing a decades-long partnership supporting TTCDC’s Head Start programs, teen empowerment initiatives, the behavioral health center, and more. This partnership is built on respect, compassion, and a commitment to serving and loving the communities in King County and South King County. Wellpoint participated in the ManKave: Grit and Grace men's wellness event on June 28. On that date, Wayne hosted a distinctive gathering for men's wellness. The event, organized by Saint Joseph's Health and Maven Community Health, convened 100 men to offer information and resources to bolster their mental, physical, and financial health. Wellpoint Washington participated as a team for the Western Washington March for Babies at the Woodland Park Zoo. Our team had 17 walkers on the day of the event and raised $1,194 in support of March of Dimes. Overall, the event has raised $194,632 which will go toward supporting health equity in our state by helping mothers and babies have the healthiest possible start and ultimately ending preventable maternal health risks and preventable pre-term birth.
