Westfield Area YMCA staff and board members, representatives from the Township of Cranford, local partners, and members of the community gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the Cranford YMCA on Tuesday, April 23. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion of major renovations to transform the Cranford Pool and Fitness Center into the Cranford YMCA, a lively center for wellness and community. The Cranford YMCA, in partnership with the Township of Cranford, is located at 401 Centennial Ave. The newly renovated facility includes a comprehensive fitness center with brand new strength, cardio, and free weight equipment, improvements to the indoor pool’s filtration, chemical feed, and UV systems, renovated main locker rooms, and new flooring and fresh paint throughout the facility. Meet Thomas, one of our devoted child care staff members. His Y career began in 2001, at just 16 years old. Since then, he has held several positions in camp, early childhood education, school-age child care, events, and member services. Thomas has truly grown with our Y and is currently the Head Teacher of our Cranford K-Wrap program, a Camp Director, and Aftercare Coordinator. His passion for teaching is driven by the enthusiasm and joy that he brings out in his students, especially that spark of understanding during an “Aha!” moment. For Thomas, working at the Y is a “very rewarding experience.” We are looking for compassionate individuals like Thomas to join us in nurturing every child's potential. Becoming a part of our team not only allows you to make a difference in young lives, but you’ll also embark on a career filled with growth opportunities and diverse experiences.
