This week's #NurseDayThursday, Meg Serraro, BSN, RN, RNC-OB, C-EFM, CBC, has worked at White Plains Hospital for the past 45 years! Meg began her career at 20 years old and worked on 5E as a night charge nurse for two years, followed by another two years in the PACU and two more in the critical care unit. For the past nearly 40 years, Meg has devoted her time, love, and passion to the Labor & Delivery unit. “I can conservatively say I’ve participated in well over 5,000 births. It’s the gift that keeps on giving,” she said. “When you go home and realize the kind of difference you’ve made in someone's life, it is such a blessing.” Meg has been lucky enough to work alongside her daughter, Jillian, who went back to nursing school following a career in marketing. Meg said, “White Plains Hospital is home for me. It’s the only place I ever wanted to be, and the only place my daughter wanted to be too. It’s the sense of community. I’ve watched this place grow so much over the years and I wouldn’t change anything.” Meg, thank you for all you have done for your patients and best of luck in your retirement! This will always be home.
