Our planning team had a great time yesterday with the City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation at the annual Wag n Wade event! 🐾 We shared exciting highlights from the City's year-long dog park study, including insights from the online survey, focus group meetings, and the process for assessing sites to select a new dog park location. Williams & Works entered a team and sponsored a hole in the Southwest APWA Michigan Chapter 26th Annual Golf Outing on August 1st at The Medalist Golf Club & Banquet Facility in Marshall. The event is a fundraiser for their scholarship program. We were happy to support such a worthy cause, and play on such a fantastic golf course.

W&W is a member firm of the West Michigan Minorities in Architecture & Engineering Consortium. WMMIAEC's mission is to increase the number of qualified women, racial, and ethnic minorities employed in architectural, engineering, and supportive scientific professions (such as ecology and hydrogeology) in our area. Each academic year, WMMIAEC offers 4 educational assistance grants in the amount of $2,000 per grant. The application due date for grant awards this year is August 31st and final selections are made in September. 🚴♂️ Passionate about biking, urban planning, and social justice? Meet Tanya DeOliveira, AICP, a dedicated professional with a lifelong love for nonmotorized transportation. As a kid, Tanya explored her neighborhood on a bike, sparking a passion that led to a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Despite Wisconsin's snowy winters, she embraced bike commuting, rediscovering the joy and freedom of biking. Transitioning to Clemson, South Carolina, Tanya made an impact at Clemson University by spearheading the first bikeways master plan. Now in Michigan, Tanya is dedicated to creating safe nonmotorized networks in urban, suburban, and rural areas. Her belief in social justice and environmental stewardship drives them to build equitable transportation systems. Tanya is not just about plans; she's about people.
