About us
Founded in 1976, Wine Spectator is the world’s most influential source of wine information, both in print and on the Internet. Wine Spectator editors review more than 11,000 wines each year in blind tastings, and each issue contains from 400 to more than 600 wine reviews with detailed tasting notes and analysis. The magazine sets stringent standards for itself and relies on the proven abilities and experiences of its editors as tasters and critics. WineSpectator.com, launched in October 1996, features more than 400,000 wine ratings, tasting reports, news and features, editors' blogs, videos and other original content you won't find anywhere else. In 1981, Wine Spectator launched its Restaurant Awards program, which recognizes restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers. The program reviews restaurant wine lists on three levels: the Award of Excellence, with 2,453 current winners; the Best of Award of Excellence, with 1,215 current winners; and the Grand Award, with 91 current winners. Winners are located in all 50 states and over 75 countries. For more information, please visit www.winespectator.com or follow @WineSpectator on Twitter and Instagram.

Shipwrecked Champagne Hoard Discovered in Baltic Wine Dive It sometimes feels like wine has a habit of falling to the briny deep. On July 23, Polish wreck diver and underwater photographer Tomasz Stachura announced that he and his Baltictech team had discovered the wreck of a 19th-century sailing ship near Öland, an island off the coast of Sweden, and it was crammed with bottles of Champagne and mineral water. As France geared up to host the summer Olympics in Paris this July, a number of former-athletes-turned wine producers got their chance to carry the famed torch as part of a longstanding tradition, the Olympic Torch Relay. Wine Spectator spoke to Languedoc wine legend and former rugby player Gérard Bertrand and NBA Hall of Famer-turned-vintner Tony Parker about their experiences raising the Olympic flame on its way to Paris. Parker got a second turn as torch-bearer during the Games' opening ceremony, while earlier that day, rapper Snoop Dogg, who has his own line of wines and canned cocktails in partnership with 19 Crimes, appeared with the flame in the Paris suburb of St.-Denis. https://lnkd.in/ea98usbD #winespectator #wine #parisolympics #2024Olympics #gerardbertrand #tonyparker #snoopdogg Snoop Dogg Tony Parker

As they say in real estate, “Location, location, location.” Tucked in the foothills of Napa’s Mayacamas range, on the western side of Oakville and just next door to Harlan, Futo certainly has it. They also share winery architects in the late Howard Backen, representing two finer examples of his genre-defining legacy. But of course, in wine, you also have to do something with that location—wines don’t make themselves. That’s where Jason Exposto comes in... https://lnkd.in/eRTHh4_E #winespectator #winereviews #futoestate #napa #oakville #winery Futo Wines

Remembering Wine Country Architect Howard Backen (1936-2024) Howard Backen designed upwards of 300 private homes, 40 restaurants, and more than 60 wineries, many of which are located in Napa Valley. He was arguably one of Napa's most influential figures without ever touching a wine grape. Backen's signature farmhouse-chic style champions functionality and natural harmony, blending seamlessly with the landscape. From Bond to Screaming Eagle and beyond, his work continues to inspire and shape the region. https://lnkd.in/eHWJasdi #winespectator #winenews #napa #howardbacken #architecture Howard Backen, FAIA
