Join us on Tuesday, August 13, for a complimentary webinar on the conservation of glass in modernist architecture. Engineers Martina Driscoll, PE and Mark Schmidt, architect Bryan Rouse, AIA, NCARB, and historic preservationist Rebecca Wong will examine the glass elements of modernist buildings and, through project case studies, will discuss the tradeoffs between increased performance (including aesthetics and durability) and historic preservation. Attendees are eligible for 1 HSW Learning Unit. Learn more and register now: https://ow.ly/ecbl50SQhCG

I’ve been acting like an #engineer so long that StudioAXIS asked me to be in the theatre. Please silence your cell phones because the show is about to begin at the Indiana Theatre. I hope we can make it an encore. Theatre Projects R.E. Dimond and Associates Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc.
We are honored to be part of the revitalization of the Indiana Theatre. This 100+ year-old project is a historic gem located in Vigo County. Last week, members of our StudioAXIS team presented a feasibility study and design concept to local officials and stakeholders. It was an exciting opportunity to showcase future use and impact of this beloved theatre. We can't wait to share more as this project progresses! https://hubs.ly/Q02Jrz070 Big thanks to our consultant team! Our Technical Resource Group coordinators recently gathered in our Northbrook, IL headquarters for their annual meeting. Representing twenty-seven technical practice areas, these volunteers work hard throughout the year to build community, promote knowledge sharing, and foster innovation. In addition to sharing ideas and identifying opportunities for collaboration between practice areas, this meeting was an opportunity to celebrate their work on our recent companywide conference. https://ow.ly/PB0I50SOil6

Over the past two years, our San Francisco office has partnered with Cristo Rey Network, a high school whose students work at WJE year-round, and the results have been gratifying for both the students and our company. https://ow.ly/VB4k50SIJYJ

To celebrate National Intern Day, our Chicago-area interns spent the day at our Northbrook (IL) headquarters campus. They toured our Janney Technical Center laboratories and participated in the "Ask the Structure Experience" (a hands-on, experiential showcase of our technical and testing capabilities and in-house research projects).

Happy National Intern Day! An enthusiastic thank you to our seventy-six interns who've immersed themselves in the WJE experience this summer, working side-by-side with our gurus, recent grads, and everyone in between. We're happy to share our expertise and passion for our work with the next generation of talented young professionals. #buildingblocks #nationalinternday

Metallurgy staff in our Janney Technical Center perform testing to determine the thickness and quality of the protective coating on a sample and to evaluate conformance of zinc or zinc-alloy coatings on iron and steel products using ASTM A90, Test Method for the Weight of Coating on Iron and Steel Articles with Zinc or Zinc-Alloy Coatings. The work involves initial weighing of the sample, followed by stripping the coating from the substrate, usually by chemical or electrolytic means, and then accurately measuring the weight loss that ensued. ASTM A90 provides sampling and testing procedures for zinc-coated sheet metal, zinc-coated wire, and zinc-coated articles other than sheet or wire. In general, a sample needs to be at least 2.25 inches square, as the standard requires this size to conduct the testing. More about our solutions: https://ow.ly/MQWZ50SCMu9
