To our team, REACH isn't just a catchy acronym, it's the heart of our company culture and the foundation of the Woodbine way. This video tells the story of how this came to life for us. (Special thanks, Teague Hunter, for making the trip to Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa last summer to visit with T. Dupree Scovell.) RELATIONSHIPS: We believe strong relationships, both internal and external, are essential for collaboration and achieving common goals. EFFORT: We value hard work, dedication, and the hustle it takes to get things done. ACCOUNTABILITY: We hold ourselves and each other accountable for our actions and results. We learn from mistakes and strive for continuous improvement. CONVICTION: We believe in our mission and approach, and we're passionate about making a difference. We believe in a set of values that are uncompromised and come from THE source. HUMILITY: We celebrate success, but we also embrace learning and feedback. We're open to new ideas and perspectives. Most importantly, we always strive to find the common ground.

If you haven't heard, Cosm is opening here in Dallas on 8.31. Here's what our own T. Dupree Scovell had to say about this destination after attending a preview event last weekend. (You can also check it out at https://www.cosm.com/!)
The dude to my right is Jeb Terry. He and I grew up together here in Dallas. As this photo shows, he grew a little more “up” than I did. Jeb is a former Tar Heel defensive end, and he currently serves as CEO of Cosm, an innovative retail-and-entertainment experience that’s coming to life across the country. Want to sit in the end zone during the Red River Rivalry? Explore the cosmos? See the Sistine Chapel up close? Cosm makes it possible for people under its very own roof, in an environment like nothing I have ever experienced. The first Cosm location opened in L.A. earlier this summer, and the second is set to officially open in DFW on August 31 with Atlanta in queue. Jeb and team, thanks for hosting us for the pre-opening here at The Colony! Cosm is transporting, transformative and … yes, a total game-changer for our region. Also, big shoutout to Michael Maddox at Mirasol Capital, who is one of the visionaries behind this, and Robert McFarlane, who runs real estate and venue development at Cosm and was a wonderful mentor to me back when I was just a young buck at Trammell Crow Company trying to make my way.

The man in the middle is none other than Willis Johnson and last night we got to celebrate his his 70th birthday (yes not a typo, even though he looks 50)! He’s been a friend of our family’s for a long time now. But more importantly, he is a mentor to many and a champion for change in Dallas. He and his better half, Sophia Johnson, were the architects behind the “Proposition A” campaign that I was involved in a few years ago (they did a masterful job, by the way). His son BJ Johnson and I played against each other in college and despite the Texas Tech v Texas rivalry, Woodbine Development Corporation is glad to be partners with JBJ Management in many different ways. Happy Birthday, “Coach”!!

My friend Christine Perez keeps the hits coming… great idea for a town that gives!
Thrilled to share the news that we've launched Greater Good, a digital publication that covers the intersection of business and nonprofits in North Texas. I've wanted to do this for several years, as it so perfectly aligns with D CEO's mission—to connect business leaders in North Texas and to use our megaphone wisely. Grateful to Christine Allison and Gillea Allison for their support, and to the entire D CEO team for collaborating on this special project, especially editors Ben Swanger, Will Maddox, Audrey Henvey, and Layten Praytor, as well as digital rock star Ricky Ferrer. Subscribe to Greater Good for free (it's distributed every other Friday) at dmagazine.com/greatergood, and email DFW nonprofit news tips to us at [email protected]. https://lnkd.in/g5w5R_Ys

Woodbine Development Corporation is about creating places people want to be. That includes our projects, of course, but it also includes places like our home office and our hometown community of Dallas. The Dallas Morning News op-ed written by J. Alvin Armstrong III, CEO of Builders of Hope Community Development Corporation and the pastor of Community Fellowship Church, is a good word for all who call this city home. It spotlights the powerful opportunity we as Americans have to fight hate and division at the local level by leading with love and learning in our daily interactions with one another. Thank you, James, for reminding us that differing views don’t have to disrupt fellowship and collaboration – and how everyone can contribute to the ongoing work that brings about healing and justice to make North Texas and our world places people want to be. PS. Thank you for the shout out to T. Dupree Scovell.

On July 1, 1984, a recent college graduate from South Dakota showed up for his first day of work at Woodbine Development Corporation - and fortunately for us, he never left. Today, we celebrate our COO/CFO Jim Cihak and his 40 years of service. Jim has embodied #GoTeam since Day 1 - making us smarter and stronger as a company through his countless contributions. Thank you, Jim, for all you have done and continue to do!

In 1959, Mountain Shadows Resort Scottsdale opened its doors, welcoming travelers, families and even Hollywood stars. The destination was rebuilt from the ground up in 2014, combining its rich history with contemporary design and taking advantage of the surrounding desert views. Mountain Shadows sits in the heart of Paradise Valley – offering a retreat with a “worlds away” feel while being within minutes of Scottsdale’s celebrated dining, shopping, culture and outdoor experiences. Today, the resort continues to expand upon its storied history by offering unparalleled experiences, whether you’re staying for a week, relaxing poolside by day, popping in for a nightcap or strolling through rotating exhibitions of the thoughtfully curated art gallery. #hotels #hospitality

Nice work Dallas… 10 of 10 propositions passed! Thanks to all of the committee members and the leadership of a great city council who made this happen. Together For Dallas! A tip of the hat (literally) to Mayor Eric Johnson and council members Tennell Atkins, Jesse Moreno, Gay Donnell Willis, Jaynie Schultz, Paula Caldwell Blackmon, and Jesse Moreno last night at the celebration. Thanks to Mari Woodlief and the entire Allyn Media team for your efforts as well. And most importantly, to co-chairs Timothy Powers and Amb. Jeanne Phillips for leading the charge!
