Way to go, Kat! 👏👏👏
Once upon a time I gave a presentation in front of a 30-person crowd and broke down crying because I was so terrified of public speaking. Last week, I moderated a panel in front of over 70 people as a part of an event that I put together in partnership with Google and Workforce Solutions Capital Area to help job seekers in Austin learn about how to leverage their skills to get their first job breaking into the tech sector. This event was a huge milestone for me in my career and gave me the opportunity to showcase all of the growth I’ve experienced since becoming a business consultant with Workforce Solutions. Through this role I’ve learned so much about workforce development, integrated into Austin’s thriving tech community, and honed my skills in organizing and networking, all while getting to help so many people in my community. Thank you to my team, especially Hope Soliz, David Olson, and Amber Warne, for supporting me through the process and helping me build the confidence I needed to pull it off. With their help, I organized a panel, job fair, and networking event at the Google office downtown. Thanks for letting me get a little personal, LinkedIn. Can’t wait to tell you all more about it.
