The Chicagoland region continues to shine as a top destination for corporate investment, recognized for 11 consecutive years. This week, we highlight Perla Foods USA, a Polish specialty foods manufacturer, choosing our region for its U.S. expansion. With products loved by customers of Aldi, Costco, and Walmart, Perla's move brings 200 jobs and a $33 million investment to North Aurora. Discover 👇 how World Business Chicago and our Chicagoland region partners made this "pro-Chicagoland" decision possible. WBC's own Christopher Chaidez, CGBP, CDMP, business development manager, Greater Chicagoland Economic Partnership, shines a spotlight on how he and others led this European company to choose Chicagoland.

World Business Chicago and partners convened with delegates from China and business/ civic leaders from the U.S. to present the recent and projected growth of Chicago’s blue and green economy. Our CEO Phil Clement, along with mHub CEO Haven Allen and Current Strategy Director Kalindi Parikh gave updates on how Chicago is thriving both economically and environmentally - and how our world-class industries, like manufacturing, can be augmented through the power of inclusive cross-industry innovation and collaboration. We at WBC would like to thank The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries for lending their ears and visiting our great city. And of course, thank you to The Paulson Institute for hosting and organizing such an important event for our ever-expanding global economy.

When strong economic development plans are proposed, we are all ears (and eyes). This next-generation megaproject will transform the West Side of Chicago with a monumental $7 billion investment! Read below: Chicago Bulls President and CEO Michael Reinsdorf, who is also an esteemed member of our Board of Directors at World Business Chicago, along with Chicago Blackhawks Chairman Danny Wirtz, unveiled their ambitious vision for the 1901 Project today. This megaproject will redraw 55 acres around the United Center, creating a vibrant, mixed-use campus. The 1901 Project, the largest-ever private investment on the city's West Side, will include: ➡ A new 6,000-seat music hall 🎵 ➡ Hotel and retail buildings 🏨 ➡ Public open space 🌳 ➡ Thousands of apartments 🏢 This 14-million-square-foot proposal aims to make the United Center the centerpiece of a thriving entertainment district, encouraging fans to arrive early and stay late, while generating year-round revenue opportunities. Following the trend of modern professional sports venues, this development will bring significant benefits and resources to the community. Reinsdorf stated, “The 1901 Project represents a continuation of our families’ commitment to the future of Chicago’s West Side. This investment will create a thriving, interconnected neighborhood, delivering significant benefits and resources to the community we have long called home.” The first phase of this transformative development could begin as soon as next spring, pending City Council approval. #ChicagoTransformation #UnitedCenter #WestSideRevitalization

Today, Mayor Brandon Johnson officially proclaimed this to be #TechChicagoWeek! 🌟 A press event was strategically held in Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood at the Xchange Chicago, a tech workforce training center, adjacent to the Comer Education Campus. Our CEO Phil Clement expressed gratitude to the entire P33 Chicago team for their strong partnership and leadership in positioning Chicago and Illinois as a global hub for tech and innovation and credited the mayor's guiding principle of building a pipeline of next-generation talent, as vitally important for us to meet the future demands the business landscape will require. WBC board member Hardik Bhatt, CEO of SDI Presence, made big news by announcing that SDI Presence will be the primary anchor tenant at the Xchange Chicago. The firm is moving its call center from Bridgeport to the new tech hub, Xchange Chicago, in Grand Crossing, once construction is complete. In his comments, Hardik shared his enthusiasm and commitment to training and apprenticing many more residents, paving the way for a thriving tech future in Chicago. The $20 million Xchange project, set to open later this year at 7247 S. South Chicago Ave., will bring dozens of jobs, apprenticeships, and unprecedented opportunities to the Greater Grand Crossing community. This first-of-its-kind center aims to inspire the next generation of innovators, making a significant impact on the South Side.
