Just announced - our 100th NY Hardware Meetup will be in 2 weeks during Climate Week at Newlab! We'll be celebrating this milestone by talking about what else, but how NYC hardware startups are helping to save our planet. Our panel for this event includes itselectric, MicroEra Power, Inc., and Thalo Labs This event wouldn't be possible without the help of NYSERDA, SecondMuse, NextCorps, and For ClimateTech Thanks to our sponsors informal, For ClimateTech and Particle for making this one happen. Lastly, thanks to Nate Padgett, Christina Perla and Anthony Dzaba for organizing this event!

While existing chamber-based instruments for measuring soil carbon flux are both accurate and reliable, the data must be collected manually. In search of a low-cost solution to automate the process, researchers at Yale University and UC Santa Barbara developed the Particle Boron-powered Fluxbot 2.0 — which enables the deployment of large sensor networks for high-resolution monitoring over broad spatial and temporal scales in real-time.

Roadside stands have some faults. They rely purely on the honor system and they might only accept cash. This means the money that’s collected is stored out in the open... which can go poorly. Eric Pietrowicz decided to bring the idea into the digital era with a Particle Boron and Stripe by designing a smart lockbox that can accept digital payments and then unlock once a transaction completes over LTE.

Nothing breaks the mood when going to a business other than not finding a place to park directly upon arrival because of a poor parking management system. Luckily there are smart solutions available and Particle can offer the communication backbone for them!
Parking management is essential in smart buildings for enhancing efficiency, convenience, and sustainability. However, most systems are clunky, outdated, and expensive. This inspired Zalmotek to develop an M-SoM-powered solution that leverages sensors and the Particle Cloud to provide real-time updates on availability, optimizing space usage and improving the overall experience for employees or tenants.
