Standards development organizations (SDOs) are actively working on XR standards around integration, safety, interoperability, and data portability in addition to ethical standards and governance. However, who is involved, and their level of engagement, can impact how decisions are made by these organizations. A new pamphlet from XRA compares U.S. involvement in SDOs to other countries, building on the work done by XRA's Reality Check white paper. XRA's analysis found that U.S. participation in these SDOs does not match the level of participation undertaken by others like China and the EU. This engagement is not just about keeping pace with technological advancements but ensuring that these developments reflect and uphold the values and interests of the U.S. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gCtYkApi

A new blog from HTC VIVE highlights XRA's newest manufacturing infographic, and how XR is being adopted in manufacturing for a better ROI on employee training and trainee preparedness. XRA’s survey findings mirror the results of a separate survey conducted by HTC VIVE highlighting XR’s real-world impact in labor and manufacturing. The HTC VIVE survey found that 95% of employees felt safer after training in XR and the XRA survey found that 81% of decision-makers see the technology as good for manufacturing. XRA is in Europe! Tomorrow, XRA's VP of Public Policy Joan O'Hara will attend the European Commission’s workshop on competition in virtual worlds and generative AI. There, she'll meet with stakeholders to discuss the challenges, opportunities, and regulatory implications arising from the evolving landscape of digital innovation. This event serves as a follow-up to the call for contributions launched in January 2024 (to which the XR Association provided comments), which sought insights into the state of competition within these two sectors. We're thrilled to have been invited. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/d6RsEkgE
