This prestigious honor recognizesoutstanding, innovative accomplishments in biological chemistry and molecular biology and contributions to the community of scientists. Dr. Schlessinger’s lab explores the mechanism of activation of receptor tyrosine kinase and their signaling pathways during homeostasis as well as in cancer and other diseases. Congratulations to Jeffrey Ishizuka, MD, DPhil, recipient of an R61 award from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for development of novel cell reporting tools to study tumor inflammation. Dr. Ishizuka is a medical oncologist who cares for patients with melanoma at Smilow Cancer Hospital. As Principal Investigator of the Ishizuka Lab, his research team studies the tumor-immune microenvironment and researches how inflammation can be used to improve cancer immunotherapies.
