The EU’s goal of halving nutrient losses by 2030 is only a few growing seasons away! ⌛️      That's why integrated #nutrient management must be at the core of Europe’s soil health and will be key to meet the challenges of #foodsecurity and climate change.     But how can we make #EveryNutrientCount and reduce nutrient losses? 👇   1️⃣ By choosing the right mineral fertilizer and the right nitrogen form, farmers can contribute to the cleaner air in the EU and reduce nutrient losses to the air. Replacing all urea-based fertilizers with ammonium nitrate could prevent 63% of overall ammonia emissions from fertilizer application in Europe.     2️⃣ Considering the climate footprint of fertilizing products is an important step to reduce nutrient losses to the atmosphere. Yara’s nitrate-based fertilizers have today a carbon footprint that is on average 50-60% lower than other similar products.     3️⃣ Enhancing crop nutrition with precision farming and digital tools (including Yara's Atfarm, N-Sensor and N-Tester BT) to ensure nutrients reach the harvest instead of being lost to the environment. This will help farmers optimize fertilization throughout the growing season, improving nutrient efficiency and crop quality while minimizing losses.

After a year of dedicated effort, we’re excited to announce the harvest of our first low-carbon wheat in Germany! 🌾 The seed for this was sown about one year ago by AGRO-Agrarprodukte GmbH Methau, a long-term partner and supplier of wheat and durum to the Bindewald-Gutting Mühlengruppe. Located in Saxony, the farm manages about 4,200 hectares of arable land and is one of 12 agricultural operations participating in the innovative project with BiGu, Harry Brot GmbH and Yara. Using mineral #fertilizers made from renewable energy sources can cut the fertilizer’s #CO2 footprint by up to 90%, reducing the wheat's overall footprint by up to 30%. By the time it reaches the consumer as a loaf of bread or a roll, we expect up to a 15% reduction in emissions. Across the value chain, from seed sowing to the supermarket shelf, there are many levers we can pull to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and Yara is leading the journey towards more sustainable agriculture! 💚 More about the partnership here ➡ https://lnkd.in/dMHw5BFA
