yondu (YC W24) is building robotic foundation models to enable intelligent navigation. They're starting with a model that lets you command a drone with natural language. Robots are underutilized in industries with dynamic environments and human interaction. This is because robots require skilled operators or custom software for each task. With Yondu, robots can understand human commands, unlocking new applications across several different verticals. Yondu will enable smart drones for law enforcement, responsive robotic servers in restaurants, and quadrupeds as companions, just to name a few. Yondu provides on-demand intelligence in the form of an API and a licensed model for any robotics manufacturer or service provider. Michael was studying Robotics at MIT and has worked on building an open source bipedal robot and an autonomous train track cleaner! "Hey Siri, measure my stockpiles!" This is an incredible concept of voice-enabled drone operations. I could imagine using it for simple tasks such as "go into recon mode". This sounds futuristic and far off, however, I watch my kids use technology today and interacting with voice seems very natural to them. Every day they are asking Google, Siri, or Amazon a question or setting a timer, etc. They rarely use a screen or button for simple tasks.
