  • Happy Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary! 🩵☁️ “The solemnity that we celebrate today, the assumption of Mary into heaven, speaks to us precisely of the redemption of our bodies. Mary, in the tradition, has always been named as the New Eve, the mother of the new humanity. Adam and Eve, that is, the first human beings whoever they were, were offered a gift from God, love and union with him, and everlasting life. But they, as we know, turned God down, and turned away from him. That turning away from God, which we call sin, ended up being the defining characteristic of what came after them. For their descents did not turn back to God, but developed this ‘tradition of sin’ one might say, down through the centuries, all the way to us. Bitter indeed are the fruits of this tradition, plain for all to see in our world today. But, as we know, God did not give up on this wayward species that he had created. Empowered by his infinite love, he continually called them back to himself until, eventually, he decided to start again. He created a New Adam, the God-Man Jesus Christ, and a New Eve, his mother Mary, in order to be the beginning of a new humanity, that no longer lived under sin, but lived a new tradition, one characterized by the knowledge and love of God and love of neighbor. Today we celebrate the triumph of that new humanity in Mary’s assumption into heaven. For even though Mary’s body was subject to physical corruption, by being united to God spiritually, her body was able to be redeemed, transformed, and assumed into heaven. For all those humans who step out of the old tradition, the tradition of sin started with Adam, and into the new tradition, started with Jesus, Mary is the exemplar of what is to come for them after death.” - Fr. Joseph Hill, SJ

Last Thursday on the Feast of St. Benedict, Young Catholic Professionals - Tampa welcomed speaker Reinier Cruz and nearly 100 young professionals. With 27 years of service with the US Special Operations command, Mr. Cruz shared an inspiring message on how his Catholic Faith guided him through his toughest battles. Here are my top three takeaways: ➡️Lean in: Commit fully - "You’re either in or you’re out." Success often stems from 100% dedication and leaning in wholeheartedly. ➡️Internal Control: Focus on what you can control internally amidst external distractions. Aligning yourself internally can lead to changing the world. ➡️Leadership: Embrace leadership as a calling, meeting others where they are and setting a positive example. The world needs leaders, so don't hesitate to "lead up." Join us for our next exclusive event, a members-only Happy Hour at Yeomans. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Last night Young Catholic Professionals - Tampa hosted a career development panel centered around the virtue of Faith. It was quite the privilege to moderate a beautiful discussion with such distinguished leaders in Natasha Lovely, Sara Edge, and Javier A. Baldor. Our panelists truly inspired the audience as they honed in on the small things that evolve into success, the power of prayer in decision making, and the reliance on Faith when seeking success. Here are my top three takeaways. -Stay the Course: We live in a world filled with distractions and it is easy to get knocked off course. We must limit these distractions and find the discipline which is backed by Faith to drive forward committing ourselves to the long term plan. This discipline is derived from the Faith that what we do now will aid us in the future. -Faith over Fear: Whether you are afraid to pick up the phone and start cold calling or fearful to have a tough conversation with the person next to you; the world and the work place is clearly littered with Fear. Have Faith in yourself and your God given skills and you will find the confidence to override your Fears. -Mentorship: The best way to conquer your battles whether in business or personal is with a team approach. Seek wisdom from those around you and you will gain knowledge. This knowledge from those above you as well as your peers will help you find success. Once success has been attained, it is important to share your wisdom with your brothers and sisters around you. This is how we will make the world a better place. We will host two more events to close out our inaugural year. Thank you to all who have supported this organization. We are planning a big celebration for the end of September…
