💡☀ GivingFest Spotlight: Each year, YAS hosts a Read-A-Thon, in which we aim to foster curiosity and encourage reading throughout the summer! Anyone is welcome to participate from children to teens or adults. This past summer, we were able to support A Place At the Table, and raised over $7,000 to contribute to a mural on their back wall! The summer before, we supported Book Harvest, raising $3,400 to sponsor a culturally inclusive book box outside of El Futuro, a mental health clinic for Latino families, so children can have stable access to books! 📣 Our Read-A-Thon is just one of the plethora of initiatives we support. 💡☀️ GivingFest Spotlight: Vrutika Soneji, the founder of our now-famous Mug Cake Fundraising Project, came up with the idea upon brainstorming with our Executive Board and was able to raise over $1,800! From a nervous girl to now the confident, youngest staff person at A Place At the Table, Youth Ambassadors of Service was with Vrutika every step. When working with APATT, she helped fundraise for a mural on their back wall! Our goal with Youth Ambassadors of Service is to make everyone’s experience, like Vrutika’s, successful and life-changing. 💡☀ GivingFest Spotlight: Isha, one of our amazing Young Nonprofit Fellowship members, decided to develop mental health toolkits for elementary school students as her Impact Initiative! Her goal was to eradicate mental health stigma at a young age. She was able to raise over $1,300 for NAMI Wake - National Alliance on Mental Illness and made over 200 toolkits! Isha's story shows just how much motivated high school students can do to give back to the community through Youth Ambassadors of Service.
