Projects

  • Coupled Line Band Pass Filter

    -

    • Designed a third order microstrip coupled line bandpass filter having a center frequency of 3 GHz.
    • Performed momentum simulations and analyzed transmission and reflection coefficients at center frequency.
    • Fabricated the circuit on FR4 substrate and achieved insertion loss of 10.184 dB and a Figure of Merit (FOM) of 5.124 dB in laboratory.

  • Distributed Element Impedance Matching Circuit

    -

    • Designed an impedance matching circuit with distributed elements for matching a complex load to 50-ohm.
    • With the help of the Linecalc tool in ADS, the microstrip line's length and width are calculated and set into the schematic for circuit simulation.
    • Using Momentum in ADS, the layout of the circuit is generated, and EM simulation is performed.
    • Able to improve the bandwidth of the matching circuit from 13.73% to 26.8%

  • Distributed Element Low Pass Filter

    -

    • Designed a distributed element low pass filter with alternating sections of high and low impedance microstrip lines with a cutoff frequency of 1.35GHz on keysight ADS.
    • Fabricated the final layout design using the Milling machine and tested using VNA (Vector Network Analyzer) and SA (Spectrum Analyzer).
    • Simulated and studied the parasitic effects and compared it with the measured response
    • Obtained an attenuation of -21.270dB at 1.8GHz frequency.

  • Microstrip Patch Antenna

    -

    • Designed, fabricated, and tested microstrip patch antenna with a fundamental resonant frequency at 2.05 GHz.
    • The layout of the patch antenna is designed using momentum in ADS.
    • The antenna is fabricated using copper tape on an FR4 substrate.
    • Performed experiments in lab to observe path loss and multi-path fading using the fabricated patch antenna

  • Microstrip Coupled Line Coupler

    -

    • Designed, fabricated, and tested a -20dB coupled line coupler with microstrip transmission lines.
    • Designed it using keysight ADS and fabricated the final layout design with the help of milling machine.
    • Tested the circuit using VNA (Vector Network Analyzer) and compared the results with the commercial coupler's result.
    • The main motive of this project was to optimize the microstrip coupler in order to get close to the ideal performance by introducing microstrip transmission lines.

  • Single Ended Mixer using Microstrip Quadrature Hybrid Coupler

    • Designed and fabricated a single-ended mixer using microstrip quadrature hybrid coupler.
    • Down-converted an RF signal at 1 GHz to an IF frequency at 70 MHz.
    • Design is obtimized for harmonic rejection and able to achieve a conversion loss of 12.82 dB.

  • Drowsiness detection using EEG

    • Developed a system based on electroencephalogram (EEG) which monitors the human cognitive state.
    • The system will detect the fluctuation in driver's performance with respect to their brain activity and if the system finds the driver drowsy, it will activate an alarm and vibration, also it will send a warning message to a predefined number which includes the current location of the vehicle.

  • PC-based Oscilloscope using ATmega328 Microcontroller

    • Developed a low-cost Oscilloscope that uses a PC and an ATmega328 microcontroller as its hardware.
    • This oscilloscope can capture frequency signals up to 5kHz.
    • ATmega328 microcontroller acts as the heart of the oscilloscope, it reads the values from its analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and pushes the values to the PC via USB port.

  • EC Walk​— Walking Assistance for Visually challenged

    • Microcontroller-based automated hardware that can help a blind person to detect obstacles in front of them instantly.
    • Hardware consists of a microcontroller incorporated with an ultrasonic sensor, proximity sensor, wet detector, a micro pager motor, and a battery.
