In January 2019 and April 2019, I traveled to Haiti, collaborating with key governmental and non-governmental stakeholders to develop a barrier-free clinician pipeline for patient care in the central plateau and education programs for local practitioners. During this process, I have worked closely with Midwives for Haiti as a platform of logistical and local support.

In January 2019 and April 2019, I traveled to Haiti, collaborating with key governmental and non-governmental stakeholders to develop a barrier-free clinician pipeline for patient care in the central plateau and education programs for local practitioners. During this process, I have worked closely with Midwives for Haiti as a platform of logistical and local support.

Midwives for Haiti works in collaboration with Haiti’s Ministry of Public Health and Population and other organizations to deliver culturally appropriate, high impact health interventions. Their approach reduces the three major delays- the delay in the decision to seek care, the delay in reaching care, and the delay in receiving adequate care- that prevent women from accessing life saving maternal care. Midwives for Haiti trains skilled birth attendants from rural areas and get them to women who need them. Their programs educate and empower Haitian women and men to improve the health of their communities, creating lasting change in their lives and the lives of the mothers and children they care for.
