For her pioneering use of communication technology to inspire and engage a mass audience, Alexia Parks was one of Newsweek's “50 people who matter most on the Internet” in 1995. Five years later, recognizing that all children are “at risk” and in need of mentoring, she pioneered a national mentor training program for teachers and parents. As a science journalist and impact entrepreneur, Alexia has now pioneered a new path to leadership for women based on the New Science of the woman’s brain. Drawing upon 40 years worth of meticulous research across a dozen fields of science, she shows that women are hardwired by evolutionary biology with exactly the traits needed to manage the complexities of today’s volatile, interconnected world.

As a recognized expert on the woman’s brain, with a focus on empowering women as leaders, she serves as a global Virtual Mentor for the UN-Habitat Youth Fund Mentor program. Her 2014 assignment is with the CEDA-Uganda Slum Women Economic Empowerment Program (SWEEP), Kampala, Uganda. CEDA is training 200 women (ages 15-32) with key skills to become financially independent and socially responsible.

Alexia Parks goal is to inspire and mobilize all women, everywhere, as leaders. She provides a clear vision of women’s potential and the proactive and innovative strategies they need to take to activate it.

Called "One of 50 people who matter most on the Internet," by Newsweek magazine, Alexia Parks also wrote for the national desk of The Washington Post, was communications director for publishers of 100 major daily newspapers, and founded a national mentor training program. She was also the first accredited blogger for the UNFCCC on climate change (2007). Alexia is a Huffington Post blogger & author of 13 books. Gifford Pinchot III, grandson of the first director of the National Park Service Director, helped Alexia prepared her business plan. (Pinchot, is co-founder of the Bainbridge Graduate Institute, now called Pinchot University.) When Alexia presented her business plan, titled “100 Corporations” on stage at Tarrytown, and it was voted #1 by the group, Swartz announced from the back of the auditorium: “Your idea has been voted #1, and I’m going to fund it!”

Alexia’s business idea: “100 Corporations” became the well-known “Tarrytown 100.” As co-founder with Swartz, Alexia was hired to identify the first 100 CEOs and senior executives. They were sent an invitation to participate via a new private delivery service: Federal Express. To Alexia, these visionary individuals represented the “leading edge of change” as the country made a transition from the Industrial Age to the Information Age. To mark this historic moment, she invited Bernie Goldhirsh, publisher of INC magazine (founded 1979), to attend. Many of the Tarrytown 100 ended up on the cover of INC magazine.
