How do you communicate feedback to candidates and manage their expectations?
It's critical to set expectations early and often. How to do this well: 1. Understand your hiring process upfront before engaging with candidates. Know who is involved, why they're involved, and what they'll be covering. Ensure each person on the hiring committee understands this as well with a commitment to communication. 2. As candidates are invited into the interview process, communicate: The steps/how many, how decisions are made, who is involved, and how you'll be communicating through each step. 3. Then do it. 4. If it's a 'no thank you,' ditch the rejection form letter and pick up the phone to provide constructive feedback... especially if they've invested their time with you. In turn, they'll communicate well with you.

You’ve landed a job interview. How can you make the best first impression?
Show them you were a wise choice when they invited you to the interview. It's hard to fake preparation. When we dig below the surface to research, we can identify ways we can help them solve problems, reduce risk, improve, reach goals, and make an impact. To do this well: 1. Leverage AI to understand their competitive landscape. 2. Understand what they're talking about on social media, in the press, on podcasts, in articles, etc. 3. Review the job description and map your experience back to their must have's. 4. Note what jumps out that interests you about them as you research. When we're clear about these details, we show up with a point of view and the ability to have a business conversation. This is also how we stand out.

The Sales Enablement Society is a volunteer organization founded in January 2016, by a diverse group of like-minded sales and marketing professionals based in the Washington, D.C. area. The society's goal is to better define the sales enablement functions and roles that currently exist within organizations, and ultimately solve the vast disparities that exist in the profession today. The SES's overall mission identifies best practices for successful outcomes, clarifies the operations for the sales enablement business, and develops the criteria for sales enablement roles within successful organizations. The SES's mission is based on an Albert Einstein quote: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." This quote applies to most organizations tasked with driving sales and marketing productivity today. Visit us: sesociety.org
