Worldwide Integration of 9 Media Metadata Companies

As part of a consolidation effort in the Video, Music, Sports metadata business, nine companies were acquired and merged under the Gracenote brand in 2015. These companies included TMS (US Video), Gracenote (Music & Video), Whats-ON-India (India & Middle East Video), HWW (Australia Video), Infostrada (Sports data), EPGS (Video EU), SportsDirect (Sports data), Baseline (Hollywood, Video).
In 2016, as Chief Content Officer of Gracenote, I initiated the 'Global Content Transformation'…As part of a consolidation effort in the Video, Music, Sports metadata business, nine companies were acquired and merged under the Gracenote brand in 2015. These companies included TMS (US Video), Gracenote (Music & Video), Whats-ON-India (India & Middle East Video), HWW (Australia Video), Infostrada (Sports data), EPGS (Video EU), SportsDirect (Sports data), Baseline (Hollywood, Video).
In 2016, as Chief Content Officer of Gracenote, I initiated the 'Global Content Transformation' initiative with a fantastic team of domain experts. The goals of this initiative :
1. Achieve worldwide scale for Global Metadata production
2. Integrate processes, standards, systems of the 9 companies and gain efficiencies
3. Transform Gracenote's backend to be Digital/ Streaming compliant
4. Retain key talent (70+ Subject Matter Experts) within the 1000+ team
5. Gain new clientele + retain clients of the 9 companies
By mid-2018, the goals of this initiative had been met along with these additional achievements :-
A. Cost reduction; higher productivity
B. Blueprint for new offices
C. Massive team expansion (new markets as well as new verticals into existing markets)
D. Automation in critical areas including data ingestion
E. Unification of standards, processes and systems
F. Critical metrics to quantify Coverage, Quality, Productivity and Throughput
In 2018, this integration & transformation initiative received the "Arthur Nielsen Award" which was dedicated to the high achieving 'Content-Org' inside Gracenote. The initiative concluded in mid-2018 having met all the critical goals and more. Most importantly, it had been an immensely challenging and fulfilling experience to everyone associated with the exercise.
