How can you make better decisions as a leader for your team?
Research shows you will always make more thoughtful decision when you include diverse perspectives. And better decisions lead to better outcomes. Here's my favorite way to ensure I integrate diverse perspectives into decisions. Before making a decision, I seek out one new thought partner to ask the to share their thoughts.

How do you measure the impact of perspective taking on your team performance and outcomes?
Perspective taking requires the ability to seek to understand even (or especially when) you don't agree. My favorite tips are: • I focus on what someone is saying versus who is saying it. • I listen to others’ perspectives without interrupting to defend or clarify my own position. • I ask “why?” more often to uncover underlying concerns and root causes of an issue. • I actively validate the viewpoints of others whether I agree or not. • I share with others what I have learned from them. • I am willing to be wrong and focus on solving problems, instead of being right.
