The flexible circuit may include a positive conductive path, a negative conductive path, at least one opening extending through the flexible circuit, at least one expandable positive interconnect capable of electrically connecting the positive path to a positive terminal of an electrochemical cell, and at least one expandable negative interconnect capable of electrically connecting the negative conductive path to a negative terminal of an electrochemical cell. The positive and negative interconnects may be expandable in at least the transverse direction and may extend from an edge of the at least one opening and terminate at a connection pad.
