Activities and Societies: Boneyard Union of Zymurgical Zealots homebrew club Parkland Community College Community Band
Studied the functionality of conjugative transposons in Bacteroides. The work resulted in the understanding of how these transposons excise and integrate into host chromosomes. This is an important mechanism of transfer of antibiotic resistance among different species of bacteria.

Studied several areas of biology, and was a teaching assistant for Microbiology and Animal Physiology. Also participated in the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band as a member of the percussion section.
