Those that know me, have sat through some wild conversations when I explain my background and experience. I try to understand the person I am talking with so I can determine what type of everyday analogies or metaphor to use by asking some leading questions. I usually try to tell a story "PLM is like a GPS navigation system for a road trip. It provides the route, shows where you are, and alerts you to any changes or obstacles along the way" and then expand on other topics to relate to cost, change, etc. The goal is to highlight benefits and outcomes, without them, it becomes a very uninteresting conversation. ;)

Attitude is everything. It is important to take a very open mind when understanding issues. Ask root cause questions to help clarify the conflict/issue. Put on the role as a peacekeeper and auditor when it comes to differing opinions on data models, integration strategies, or priorities. Gather all relevant information and perspectives to fully understand the issue. Collaboratively analyze and set stages of resolutions with effective data practices.

There is a whole world out there glued to their phones. There are so many opportunities to be part of topic forums, publications, user groups, etc that it is imperative to network with new people. Don't just rely on the people you know. Set a certain amount of LinkedIn connection requests and comment/post regularly. Create a newsletter and ask people to subscribe. The more people see you, the more they are inclined to reference or think of you when they receive job request. Branding is key

There are many daily obtainable and manageable goals/tasks, but I like to mix it up. I setup daily or weekly goals, such as updating the resume, applying to a certain number of jobs, social post/articles/comments - what I call "branding" or reaching out to a set number of contacts/network. Also, physical and mental exercise is a goal, like walking, reading etc. Set the routine and check boxes ;)

I know that good practice is selfcare and positive affirmations. Expect job searching can be a long and sometimes discouraging process. Celebrate small victories through setting a number of outreach emails, phone calls, job submissions and replies. Also, I find keeping a gratitude journal on new relationships made during the process as well as what worked and what hasn't, helps. Resilience is key to maintaining motivation.

In my experience, the best tools are those that have pattern detection, and intelligence built-in on top of all the more common features such as chatting videoand files sharing. Looking at these copilots or advisors as vital for organizations to foster and connect critical teammates are how we are going to become more communal in the way we work remotely.
