What do you do if your corporate communications strategy is failing to engage employees?
Understand the why. Bring together a trusted group of emerging leaders for an honest and transparent dialogue to hear what the obstacles are. Survey the entire employee base on both their perceptions, needs and aspirations for your company's employee engagement. Engagement needs to be organic, so invite some employees to vet your plans and your communications before rolling out any new initiative.

What do you do if your interviewers want to see your creativity and innovative thinking?
Interviewers want to know that you deeply care about what you do, how you think and are solution-oriented and that you are willing to learn in every situation. Sometimes those words are not easy to find in all corporate settings. I think to show your creativity and innovation, you can talk about ideas that solved for an issue - even if they weren't executed in the end. If you have examples from outside of work - that's OK too. Explain why and what you learned from the situation and how you applied that learning to your next task.

What do you do if your superiors give you constructive criticism?
It is important to address the big themes in the feedback that you have clarified and verified. If you try to address every nuanced piece of feedback, you will get lost in the details. First, take a step back to see the forest for the trees. Then with 2-3 big themes of opportunities to grow, reach out to a coach, mentor or your manager to build a plan. Do not build alone! Think about: what changes you aspire to make by the end of the year, how you will operationalize those changes in your day-to-day work and how you will demonstrate those changes to your manager and your team in a meaningful way. Treat the plan like any work plan, set reminders and action items and hold yourself accountable to them.
