Activities and Societies: Marine Biologist, focusing on Marine Mammology and Evolutionary Biology. Caretaker and student liaison at Long Marine Laboratory in the John Pearse lab. (Betsy Steele, Director). Harry Prest (Marine Chemist), and John Pearse, Forever Diving now in warm waters.

My biggest claim to UCSC Marine Mammal research fame, was not tagging Elephant Seals for Prof. Leboeuf, or Ted Cranford cut odontocete skulls . . . although all of that was remarkable and fortuitous in time and place. No, rather it was helping Professor Emeritus Kenneth Norris clear out his rows and boxes of books and papers from the upstairs loft above the Research lab.
His stories and kindness were forever captured in the young mind of this Marine Biologist.
