Your candidate reacts defensively to interview feedback. How can you effectively address their response?
One particularly effective phrase I have found for this scenario is: "The customer is always right, even if I/we think they're wrong." Everyone cringes a little when they hear negative feedback, but particularly if they push back, I respond with 3 main sections: a) Don't shoot the messenger, it's never my favorite news to share but I'd rather close the loop than leave you hanging. b) It was their impression so either there's some truth to it or you're giving off that vibe somehow. c) Let's talk about how to fix or de-emphasize that moving forward for this and/or other companies.

We took around 500 high school aged young men heading into their senior years of high school and divided them into cities and counties. From there, they elect and run their own city, county and state governments for a week. In the process, they learn about how the political system works in Kansas as well as what it means to be an active citizen. At such a young age, a good portion are hesitant to begin the week, but by the end of the week they don't want to leave and develop skills and…
