PSU Hackathon – Hackathon is a weekend long events where students spend 24 consecutive hours turning ideas into tangible products. My team developed “The Flex Glove”, a technology that used a flex strip to command a smart phone to execute specific actions. Intended for people with physical disabilities, the flex sensor would be inserted into the fingers of a glove, thereby giving a user the ability to make phone calls, turn on the flashlight, or send text messages without having immediate…

Springfield THON Organization – Springfield is an organization dedicated to raising money for THON, which is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. It is a 46 hour dance marathon that raises millions of dollars for pediatric cancer research. This past year's THON total was $13 million, and Springfield, the organization I volunteer for, raised $270,015 for the 2014-2015 school year.

As a member of the Springfield THON Organization, I participate in yearly fundraising for Penn State THON, a 46 hour dancing marathon that raised $13,000,000 dollars last year for pediatric cancer research. In Springfield, I dedicate many hours to raising money for THON. For example, I participate in "canning" fundraisers, which are times when students spend many hours dancing on street corners to raise money from passing cars. In Springfield, I dedicate many hours to raising money for THON. For example, I participate in "canning" fundraisers, which are times when students spend many hours dancing on street corners to raise money from passing cars. I also help organize massive events like the Springfield Casino night, the mail solicitation campaigns, and a fair trade market, all of which raise extraordinary amounts of money for THON. Overall, I am very dedicated to Springfield, and take pride in the organization's success. Last year, we raised $270,015 for THON, which continues to motivate me to give my efforts for this amazing cause.
