Starting in 2008, FIGMENT has created summer-long programs on Governors Island, which in 2017 included an artist-designed minigolf course and an architectural competition to design and build a temporary pavilion. These programs engage approximately 100,000 visitors a year, all at no cost, enabling us to provide a cultural experience for a very diverse group of participants.

Starting in 2010, FIGMENT has expanded geographically. FIGMENT has so far held 69 events in 20 cities in 5 countries on 4 continents over the past 12 years.

FIGMENT is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization incorporated in New York State, with two full-time employees.

This is a FIGMENT book.

Cast: 5m., 6w. (can expand to include up to 14 other actors.) The moon is falling out of the sky! The king and his sons love war and have waged a war on Queen Marie for so long that they can barely remember why they started it. But now the moon, rapidly falling toward the earth, has asked to speak with them. A sorceress (the Prophetess) whisks the king and the princes off to see the moon's servant, the Moon Minion. The Moon Minion helps them speak with the moon, and they learn that their war has made the moon very sad and is the reason the moon is falling. The moon asks the princes to stop the war. To them, a world without war is a world without fun or excitement, and they refuse. But when confronted with the destruction of the entire planet, they agree to embark on a whirlwind journey to appease the moon. Along the way, they visit a smoldering forest, a peasant village and the castle of Queen Marie herself. They learn valuable lessons about the nature of war, the value of human life, and the good in helping others. And they manage to stop the moon, bringing peace and happiness to a world that has been without it for a very long time. The Falling Moon is a hilarious adventure story, fast-paced and wild enough to keep younger children completely engaged, yet subtle and sophisticated enough to capture the imaginations of older children and adults. Area staging.

Cast: 3m., 3w. Quazimodo! is a modern version of a classic story, adding humor and contemporary perspective, a play about the grotesquely beautiful and the beautifully grotesque. Quazimodo, the deformed bell-ringer of Notre Dame, is in love with Esmeralda, a gypsy dancer who does not know he exists. Esmeralda is framed for the murder of her lover, Phoebus, and Quazimodo saves her from execution, bringing her to the sanctuary of the South Tower of Notre Dame where he lives with his two gargoyles, the romantic Paquette and the cynical Gudule. Esmeralda has a demanding personal aesthetic. Her mother was visited by a vision of the holy virgin, who cautioned that Esmeralda could not be exposed to sin, or she would die. Esmeralda has interpreted sin to mean ugliness. Quazimodo hides from Esmeralda, but she manages to coax him into revealing himself, and she is horrified by his ugliness. However, Quazimodo shows her remarkable kindness, and she begins to trust him and doubt her beliefs about the nature of sin. But the Parisians believe Esmeralda guilty and the archdeacon of Notre Dame permits them to take her away and hang her. Quazimodo, consumed by grief, crawls into her grave to die. The gargoyles are left alone on the tower, passive observers of the destiny of France. Unit set.
