When the opportunity came to mentor a 5-year old boy through a program at my church, I jumped on the opportunity to help someone in need. What I did not realize, nor would have predicted, was that this would turn into a long-term mentorship full of good memories and fair share of challenges.
I have learned more about life’s blessings and challenges through working with my mentee than any other experience in my lifetime. What I did not realize, nor would have predicted, was that this would turn into a long-term mentorship full of good memories and fair share of challenges.
I have learned more about life’s blessings and challenges through working with my mentee than any other experience in my lifetime. I have learned the overwhelming importance of loving and nurturing a child when they are young, and when that is neglected, the long-term emotional effects it has on someone.
I am passionate about this story and would welcome anyone who would like to know more about it. Mentoring a child at risk is a roller coaster ride, but incredibly rewarding.
