How can you avoid micromanaging your team?
I have found that micromanaging has a trickle down effect potentially leading to a cycle of the same. It travels from one level of leadership to another as each leader presses the next to get the level of information and control the next level needs. There are several methods I’ve used to break the cycle: - Situational leadership, clearly identifying the task to be done, the ability of the leader to perform the task and identifying level of engagement the leader can expect from me. - Level one / Level two action plans. The detail in the level 2 can easily be shared when questions are asked that require it. Or, the level one can be shared, higher level. -Setting clear expectations with open communication and appropriate follow up.
