How do you use content gap analysis to identify growth opportunities?
I'm going to give a real example using SEMrush. 1. Add your website + 2 primary competitors to the Keyword Gap Tool. 2. Set the keyword difficulty filter up to 50. This is a reasonable threshold for competitive, yet reachable terms. 3. Scroll down. The default setting will be 'Shared' keywords, you'll want to switch this to 'Missing' to see where your competitors outrank you. 4. Look to the far right and filter CPC in descending order. High CPC tells us these are high-intent searches. 5. Extract relevant Commercial and Informational keywords. We should now have a comprehensive list of reasonably difficult yet attainable topics we know we're not yet ranking for, but with some hard work, we can put ourselves within striking distance.
