You're choosing new technology for your operating system. What are the most important things to consider?
Usability and time to value have become critical when making technology choices. We often are tempted to pick products with the most features and flexibility. But, if your team doesn't use and adopt the technology, the features won't matter. There are still far too many projects that were well-intentioned, but not well-adopted, and never see the light of day. Generally, err on the side of keeping things simple and getting some quick wins -- then build on those.

You're trying to network in product management. What's the biggest mistake you could make?
Remember that when trying to network (connect) with others working in product that you are connecting with *builders*. The best way to connect with them is to create value for *them* and the best way to do that is to understand what they are building and who they are building it for. Yes, this approach doesn't scale -- but it's better to solve for high quality than high quantity.

What are some ways to foster creativity in your team when developing an operating system?
When defining your operating system (vision, values, principles, etc.) remember the power of repetition. As leaders, we may think we are being boring repeating the same thing when we talk about our culture, vision and values. But the truth is, our people *want* and *need* to hear it. Both for themselves, and for their teams. Do not be afraid of being repetitive. It's remarkably effecting and necessary.

How do you validate your start-up idea without revealing too much?
In my experience, I think entrepreneurs over-estimate the actual risk of sharing their idea in order to get critical feedback and support. Stealth mode is for fighter jets, not startups Yes, there is a vanishingly small chance that some other entrepreneur/team hears about what you're doing and then go copies it and does exactly that. In practice, around most ideas, there are *already* other teams working on similar ideas. And, if so, you're better off knowing what's going on in the industry instead of working in the dark. My advice: Share your idea broadly. The tradeoffs are worth it.
