    This study investigated forty-three panel paintings housed in the Brown Gallery of Knole House. The majority of these paintings date to the early 17th Century, with some later additions to the collection. A systematic and objective approach to the classification and categorisation of cracks patterns and delamination on paintings has not yet been established in conservation studies. A systematic and objective approach to the classification and categorisation of cracks patterns and delamination on paintings has not yet been established in conservation studies. This project aims to attempt such classification within a paintings series with documented history, and aims to identify patterns among these structural issues in relation to the environmental trends in collected data.
