During a 3P workshop I attended years ago, Mr. Nakao shared an insightful anecdote about the genesis of the 7 ways concept. While consulting with Boeing, he tasked engineers with designing a function in multiple ways. When pressed for a specific number, Mr. Nakao initially resisted but eventually gave up and said with "7." His rationale? Boeing's jet-powered aircraft names all start with 7 (707, 747, 787, etc.). However, this anecdote underscores that the significance of "7" is an arbitrary number. The same holds true with "5" in 5 Whys problem-solving methodology. 7 and 5 are not magic numbers
