Identifying the best treatment options for cancer requires timely genomic and molecular testing on the tumor tissue. However only a small percentage of eligible patients have timely access to testing. There are many reasons for this. Given the large number of genomic tests and rapidly evolving recommendations, it is difficult for busy clinicians to stay abreast and order the correct tests. Many of these tests are performed by select vendors and the process of ordering is cumbersome and frequently involves lengthy forms that need to be completed. We designed and successfully deployed a platform to not only help clinicians identify the appropriate testing, but also easily send orders to the appropriate vendors with a single click. All of this is done directly within the EMR. Post deployment surveys show a high level of satisfaction amongst all stakeholders. Show less

Digital platform to support cancer survivors. Involves building registries, developing provider and patient facing technology solutions and work flows to support precision tracking and patient engagement.

Creation of the foundational infrastructure to house and intuitively present complex genomic information, develop interfaces with vendors to efficiently move information across systems, and develop support systems to facilitate precision medicine, both, for direct patient care and population health.

In-Line Decision Support: Lead group of content experts to create evidence and consensus based guidelines and best practices. Developed platform to present this information in real-time to practicing oncologists. Platform is integrated and interfaced with EMR to enable seamless access and ordering.

Spearheaded project to develop and implement process for electronic ordering of blood products at Kaiser Permanente NCAL. Worked with multiple departments to standardize practices based on evidence based data. Rapidly implemented across 21 medical centers to make this complex procedure simple, safe, transparent and evidence based.

Developed and implemented process and pathway for evidenced based management of lung nodules. Leveraged technology including secure web based conferencing and EMR to facilitate multidisciplinary approach to provide patient centered, efficient and timely care to patients diagnosed with lung nodules.

Developed and implemented ( in process) electronic ordering for inpatient chemotherapy across KP NCAL

As cancer center chair, lead large team to seek Cancer Center accreditation. Roseville and Sacramento Medical centers awarded CoC accreditation with commendation as Comprehensive Community Cancer Centers in record time (Sept 2014). Served as Cancer Center Chair until 2019
