Step 1 for assessing your team member's communication strengths and weaknesses in contract negotiations is to assess your own communication strengths and weaknesses. After you've done that, and thought about how you have improved - and how you can still improve, you will more empathetically - and therefore more effectively - assess your team member. And if you incorporate that self-awareness and self-criticism into your feedback and guidance, you will enhance their ability to receive it.
