During pregnancy, what you eat and drink affects the growth and development of your baby. It is essential to consume a balanced and healthy diet that includes protein, vitamins, minerals and fiber. Whole-grain bread, fruits, vegetables, and lean meats such as chicken and fish are excellent choices. Avoid consuming foods that are high in sugar, fat, and salt. Exercising regularly during pregnancy is vital for a healthy pregnancy. You do not have to engage in intense workouts, but 30 minutes of gentle exercise such as walking, prenatal yoga, or swimming will help you stay active. Regular physical activity can also reduce your risk of developing gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, and other common conditions.

As a patient, it is essential to take the initiative to seek support from your healthcare provider before planning a pregnancy. Your healthcare provider can help you understand the impact of chronic diseases on pregnancy and develop a plan to manage and treat your condition. Additionally, they can provide adequate preconception education, monitor your health during pregnancy, and find appropriate specialists if needed. Most importantly, if someone doesn't feel well during pregnancy, don't just assume it is a pregnancy symptom, tell your provider.
